The Fraser Fir is the southern cousin of the Balsam Fir and a survivor of the last ice age–a time when spruce and fir forests covered much of North America.

Norway Spruce Seedlings

Norway Spruce

Norway Spruce is the fastest growing of the spruces. Develops strong graceful branches that are covered with dark green needles. Ideal windbreaker.

Norway Spruce prefers moist but well-drained, acidic soils that may be organic, sandy, or loamy. However, it is perhaps the most adaptable common evergreen tree to harsh conditions, including poor, clay, rocky, dry soils of acidic, neutral, or alkaline pH.

It thrives under seasonal drought once it is established, and takes well to city pollution. Its only requirement is to not be sited in wet soils, where it will quickly die.

Norway spruce has a mature Height of 40-60 feet, 25 foot spread

The seedlings grow in sandy, loam, or clay soils.
