Betula papyrifera
Also known as ‘Canoe Birch’, this Michigan native tree is known for it’s characteristic bark, and history of use to craft canoes. A valuable wildlife tree in the spring when their flowers (catkins) bloom, providing birds and small mammals food. The wood is also a valuable lumber product, and is used in areas such as flooring, furniture, and even popsicle sticks!
Seedlings are about a year old.
